Very few would have been able to afford school fees in the time of the Tudors. There was no public education and what little education there was lay well outside the grasp of all but the wealthy.
Apprenticeship
A Tudor apprenticeship, lasting around seven years, had more in common with slavery than it does with the modern perception of apprenticeship.
