Hullwebs History of Hull

Hull was one of the first towns to have a Botanic Garden when the 6 acre site between Hessle Road and Lineus Street was planned in 1812. According to a report of the time, it was hoped to eventually include:

one specimen at least of every tree, shrub and hardy plant in the kingdom, as well as a large number of exotics.
