2005 Challenge Cup

Wow! What a year for Hull FC, their first challenge cup win since, since, well; we'll not go there shall we..
(If you really want to know, see the Hull FC Honours page.)

The Road to Cardiff was not an easy one, in fact Hull was the only team to take on Super League clubs in every round. As can be seen from the following table, no one can lay claim to 'suffering' quite so hard in the draws.

I personally woke on the 31st of July to the thought "We always beat Leeds". Well, there was a time that we did, and it didn't seem that long ago. I knew that we were going to win the final; there was no other possible outcome. I just hoped that Steve Ganson, John Kear, Tony Smith and the two squads would get it right on the day. They did - and Hull exploded! But they didn't make it easy.
